CIDR for Sheep gets final FDA Approval

MUADP is pleased to report that EAZI-Breed CIDR Sheep Insert (progesterone solid matrix) for induction of estrus in ewes (sheep) during seasonal anestrus has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).  The work enabling the approval was a collaborative effort, spanning more than 6 years, between MUADP, Dr Dennis Halford (New Mexico State University) and Dr Keith Inskeep (West Virginia University).  The Controlled Intravaginal Drug Release (CIDR) has been a long standing need of the sheep industry.  The original Public Master File created by the MUADP collaboration enabled the manufacturer, Pharmacia and Upjohn, a division of Pfizer, Inc., to use these data in conjunction with its own manufacturing, labeling, and other information to complete the new animal drug application.   The manufacturer has indicated that EAZI-Breed CIDR Sheep Insert will be available late this year or early next year.
